17 MoD Personnel Killed in Kabul Attack
17 MoD Personnel Killed in Kabul Attack

At least Seventeen personnel of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) were killed and 14 others were injured in a suicide attack Saturday afternoon in Kabul, officials said.

The attack happened near Pul-e-Artal locality of Kabul when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near a bus carrying the MoD employees, said Hashmat Stanekzai, spokesman of Kabul Police Chief.

All the killed people were the MoD employees, Stanekzai said, adding that civilians were also among the injured.

The Police Chief of Kabul, Abdul Rahman Rahimi, also arrived in the scene and confirmed the attack on MoD employees. He added the bus was totally burnt.

According to hospital officials, a girl was also among the injured who is in critical situation.

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.

It was the second attack of the Taliban in a day in Kabul after armed insurgents killed the chief secretary of Supreme Court, Atiqullah Raoufi, early Saturday morning in Police District 5.

These attacks came two days after a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the French Cultural Center at Istiqlal High School of Kabul, only a few meters away from the Presidential Palace, in which one foreign civilian was killed and nearly 20 others were injured.
