Djokovic stuns Thiem to win 8th Australian Open

Novak Djokovic has captured a record-extending 8th Australian Open title after a great comeback against Dominic Thiem of Austria in a 5-set thriller.

It was a close contest from the onset, but the Serbian Ace immediately put the Austrian under pressure in the opening set and managed to end it 6-4.

But, in the second, Djokovic received two violation warnings, which shook his concentration and caused him to lose the set 6-4.

In the third, Matters just got worse for the Second Seed and Thiem looked to have one hand on the trophy after a dominant 6-2 win.

The Serbian superstar, however, fought his way back into the contest and managed to take the fourth set 6-3 to send the match into a decider.

He firmly seized the momentum and applied unrelenting pressure over his rival to take the decider 6-4 and wrap up the match in 4 hours. With the victory, Djokovic grabbed his 17th grand slam title and returned to number 1 in 2020 ATP rankings.
