President Ashraf Ghani has ordered Saturday a national day of mourning to honor the victims of the recent deadly attacks in Kabul, Khost and Heart provinces, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Friday.

The statement said the decision was made to express condolences with the families of those who lost their lives in deadly blasts over the past week.

The Afghan flag will fly half-mast across the country and in Afghanistan's political offices in other countries, the statement said.

Government called on the people to attend prayer ceremonies in mosques on Saturday and pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in terrorist attacks and for the swift recovery of the wounded.

According to the statement, a ceremony of the recitation of the Holy Quran will be held at the Presidential Palace's mosque on Saturday.

At least 150 people were killed and hundreds others were wounded in a truck bomb blast in Kabul's diplomatic district in Zanbaq Square at least 10 days ago.

The incident was followed by a peaceful protest on last Friday which turned violent after security forces reportedly opened fire on demonstrators. At least five people were killed in the shooting.

A day after the protest, three back to back bomb blasts targeted the burial ceremony of one of the protestors who was the son of a lawmaker. Almost 20 people were killed in the bombings.
