Afghan Migrant Fayaz Khan Sentenced to Five Years in Prison for Threatening Nigel Farage
A British court has sentenced an Afghan migrant to five years in prison after he was found guilty of threatening to kill Nigel Farage, the leader of the Reform UK Party, in a video posted on social media. According to AnsarPress, the Southwark Crown Court in London announced that Fayaz Khan, aged 26, had posted a video on TikTok in October 2024, in which he mimicked firing a gun with his hand and declared that he wanted to "pop, pop, pop" Nigel Farage - slang implying to shoot and kill him - and then marry Farage`s sister. British authorities stated that the Afghan migrant had provided a false identity and was later discovered to have a criminal record in Sweden. The court was informed that his real name is Fayaz Hosseini, and that he is 31 years old, not 26. Investigators revealed that Hosseini entered the UK illegally by boat, using a false identity. Outside the court, Nigel Farage, who is both a Member of Parliament and leader of the Reform UK Party, welcomed the verdict, calling it "the rightful punishment for a violent offender." Farage had earlier described the threat as "deeply concerning," saying that he feared for his safety after watching the video. Prosecutors told the court that Khan livestreamed his illegal journey across the English Channel on social media and later posted the death threat, allegedly to encourage others to follow the same illegal migration route. According to court documents, Khan (Hosseini) had 17 previous convictions in Sweden, including threats involving a knife, and had served prison time for threatening a government official. During the hearing, Khan`s defense attorney stated that his client apologized to Nigel Farage and his sister "for any distress caused." However, the presiding judge emphasized that issuing death threats against a Member of Parliament was a serious and unacceptable offense that required a severe custodial sentence. On Friday, Khan was formally found guilty of threatening to kill a British MP. In addition to the five-year prison sentence for the threat against Nigel Farage, he was also sentenced to eight months in prison for illegally entering the United Kingdom.
