Team Iran have taken a step closer to reach the 3rd round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 10-nil thrashing of Cambodia in Group C.

Iran made the breakthrough after 16 minutes of play when Alireza Jahanbakhsh converted from the spot. Goals from Shojae Khalilzadeh and Mehdi Taremi quickly made it 3-nil.

Milad Mohammadi then pushed the gap to 4 when his cross was deflected into the net. Saeed Ezatolahi could have scored the 5th, but his spot-kick cannoned off the cross bar.

Iran maintained a high tempo in the 2nd half, with Mohammadi putting his name on the score-sheet in the 57th minute, before Morteza Pouraliganji headed home a corner-kick 6 minutes later.

Karim Ansarifard scored from the spot to make it 7-nil.Iran continued their rock-solid performance as Kaveh Rezaei found the back of the net with a fine header. Mehdi Ghayedi displayed his dribbling talent in the box, before firing a fierce-shot into the net. Rezaei then bagged his 2nd of the night in the last 3 minutes of the match.
