Iranian actor, Bakhtiyar Panjeei has won the best actor award at Italy’s Taormina Film Festival (TFF) for his role in feature film Namo (The Alien).

Panjeei secured the award for his lead role in the 90-minute feature film, written by Jafar Panahi and Nader Saeivar, at the TFF’s 66th edition.

NAMO puts on display a wave of paranoia among locals of an Iranian town caused by two strangers, who park their car at the same spot for hours every day. The two are suspected to be tied to national security forces.

The film, produced by Mastaneh Mohajer and Tahoura Abolqasemi, had earlier joined the 70th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.

The film’s writers were winners of the Best Screenplay award at Cannes 2018 for "3 Faces."

The TFF is the Italian equivalent to the Academy Awards that began in 1955. The exhibition has hosted many stars of international cinema.
