Secretary of Iran`s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani is to travel to Muscat amid preparations for further indirect nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington after the first round was held in the Omani capital, Muscat.

Reporting on Monday, Fars News Agency said the official would "head a delegation to Muscat tomorrow."

"During the visit, Larijani is set to meet with senior Omani officials and hold talks on the latest regional and international developments, as well as bilateral cooperation," it added.

Iran and the United States held the latest round of their indirect nuclear negotiations in Muscat on Friday.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who headed the Iranian negotiating team, described the talks as a "good start," adding that both sides intended to continue the discussions.

The negotiations came as the United States has resorted to a significant military buildup in the region, prompting the emergence of rampant speculation about another military confrontation with the Islamic Republic.

The US joined the Israeli regime in the latter`s 12-day imposed war on Iran last June, despite underway negotiations between American and Iranian officials aimed at resolving outstanding issues through diplomacy.

The aggression was, however, met with a decisive Iranian response, prompting the regime to ask for a ceasefire through Washington.

Iranian officials warn strongly against adversaries trying once again to use diplomacy as a cover for military aggression, with Tehran pledging an even stronger retaliation in the event of any enemy miscalculation.
