Trump says US used ‘Discombobulator’ secret weapon during Maduro capture
US President Trump said U.S. forces used a secret weapon called the "Discombobulator" that helped impair Venezuelan equipment during the early January raid in Caracas that led to the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. "The Discombobulator. I`m not allowed to talk about it," the president said in an interview with The New York Post, which was published Saturday. "I would love to," Trump said, before discussing the effectiveness of the mysterious weapon used during the operation on Jan. 3, where Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were arrested at a compound in Caracas by U.S. personnel. "They never got their rockets off. They had Russian and Chinese rockets, and they never got one off," the president told The Post. "We came in, they pressed buttons and nothing worked. They were all set for us." U.S. personnel used cyber tools during "Operation Absolute Resolve," knocking out power across the capital city. There have also been reports promoted by the White House that personnel tasked with defending Maduro were incapacitated during the attack. The U.S. military possesses a directed-energy weapon, called the Active Denial System, that shoots an invisible beam of radio frequency, which penetrates to the depth of roughly three sheets of printer paper. "This repel effect produces an intolerable heating sensation, compelling the targeted individual to instinctively move," the Pentagon has said previously. It is unclear which exact weapon Trump was referring to during the interview.
