Iran has rejected claims by the United States that it is planning attacks on American facilities, saying Washington is seeking to stoke tensions in West Asia.

Iran`s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei made the remarks on Saturday after the US State Department alleged in a Persian-language X post that it had received reports suggesting the Islamic Republic is preparing options to target American bases.

"These statements and claims are in line with the United States` ongoing policy of fueling tensions in the region," he said.

Baghaei also stressed the determination of the Iranian Armed Forces to preserve and enhance their military and defensive capabilities in order to protect the country`s sovereignty.

He further warned that Iran would respond "firmly and decisively" to any act of aggression.

Additionally, in its post, the US State Department claimed that "all options remain on the table" and that any attack on US assets would be met with "very, very strong force."

What began late last month as peaceful protests over economic concerns across Iran gradually turned violent after public statements by US and Israeli regime figures encouraged vandalism and disorder.

During the unrest, foreign-backed mercenaries rampaged through cities, killing security forces and civilians and damaging public property.

The US president has repeatedly threatened military action against Iran under the guise of supporting armed rioters.

Speaking on Saturday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Iran considers Trump the main culprit for the killings and destruction in the riots.

He added that some of the agents behind the sedition consisted of individuals who were identified, trained, and largely recruited by American and Israeli agencies.
