The Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement says calls are mounting for accountability against online platforms Booking.com and Airbnb for profiting from Israel`s illegal settlements on Palestinian land.

In a post on X, BDS said on Tuesday that both corporations list properties in illegal Israeli settlements, "built on stolen Palestinian land and considered a war crime under international law."

Irish authorities have reportedly opened a money-laundering investigation into Airbnb`s operations in Israeli settlements, following a recent High Court order.

The legal complaint was filed by the Irish human rights group Sadaka, together with a Palestinian individual, and is being represented by the Global Legal Action Network (GLAN), an international organization that supports strategic human rights litigation.

According to BDS, another coalition of solidarity and rights organizations, the Stop Booking Apartheid coalition, has published a report highlighting more than 50 Booking.com listings in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The report details how these listings help normalize Israel`s illegal presence and profit from the dispossession of Palestinian land.

"The report highlights how Booking profits from and enables settler violence, forced Palestinian labor, ethnic cleansing, and settler tourism economies, as well as entrenches Israel`s apartheid regime," BDS wrote.

It further said that the campaign against the two tech giants is part of the broader "No Room for Genocide" initiative, which urges travelers and consumers to boycott Airbnb and Booking.com when alternatives exist.

"If you can, help create, support, and promote more ethical alternatives," the BDS movement said, calling on the global tourism industry to "stop fueling apartheid and occupation."

The BDS movement has previously said that Booking.com is exploiting Israel`s war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people for commercial profit.

The global campaign to boycott Israel gained momentum in 2005, when more than 170 Palestinian civil society groups launched the BDS movement.

Inspired by the international struggle against apartheid in South Africa, BDS urges governments, companies, and individuals to end complicity in Israel`s occupation and human rights violations.

Since its inception, the movement has gained traction worldwide, pressuring companies, universities, and artists to cut ties with the Israeli regime.

Several corporations, including Veolia, G4S, and Ben & Jerry`s, have altered or ended operations linked to illegal settlements following sustained campaigns.
