The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says that at least 10 civilians were killed and six others wounded in last night`s airstrikes in the provinces of Khost and Kunar.
According to Ansar Press, UNAMA stated in a released communiqué that most of the victims were children.
UNAMA once again called for "respect for international law to protect civilians and prevent harm to non-combatants."
The Taliban say that Pakistan carried out airstrikes last night on areas in Khost, Kunar, and Paktika provinces.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban`s spokesperson, said that in Khost province nine children and one woman were killed, while four others were wounded in Kunar and Paktika.
He added that all the victims were civilians and that several houses were also destroyed in the strikes.
However, the Pakistani military has denied carrying out attacks in these three Afghan provinces, calling the Taliban`s claims "baseless."
