Afghanistanian presidency has promised two ministerial posts to Jamiat-i-Islami political party as part of negotiation to end dispute over Balkh governorship, sources told 1TV Sunday.

Atta Mohammad Noor, the executive chief of Jamiat, was dismissed by President Ashraf Ghani as the governor of Balkh province in December, but he has refused to leave office.

The president originally introduced Mohammad Dawood as Noor’s successor, but the sides have apparently agreed on Ishaq Rahguzar to take over the post.

A member of Jamiat-i-Islami’s leadership council told the presidency has also promised two ministerial posts to the party as part of negotiation.

Based on the agreement, Mirwais Balkhi will be introduced as minister of education while Najib Aqa Fahim will be given another ministerial post. Both are members of the party.

The presidency declined to make comment on the matter.

Dispute between Ghani and Noor has triggered a major political tension in the country.

Earlier, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said that the political tension would end before start of Afghanistanian New Year on coming Wednesday.

Convening Loya Jirga to amend the Constitution, timely elections and rollout of electronic identity cards have also been among major demands of Jamiat-i-Islami party, but apparently they have not been accepted.
