In phone exchange with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi underscored the importance of their strategic partnership, particularly in light of the 25-year cooperation agreement between the two countries.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the robust cooperation between Iran and China, underscored by their mutual interest in expanding bilateral relations across a wide range of areas.

Araghchi provided a detailed update on the recent developments within Iran, particularly the protests that began as peaceful demonstrations but escalated due to the involvement of foreign-backed terrorist groups.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to protecting its citizens from terrorism, including Daesh-like groups supported by the Zionist regime and the United States," he said.

Araghchi also praised China`s unwavering position against terrorism and foreign interference in Iran`s internal affairs.

Wang said China has consistently supported Iran`s sovereignty and its right to defend its national security against terrorism and outside interference.

"The United States continues to misuse economic tools, including tariffs and sanctions, to apply pressure on developing nations such as Iran and China," Araghchi said.
