Iran`s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned of threats posed by Israel to West Asia as he arrives in Beirut to hold talks with high-ranking Lebanese officials.

Araghchi made the remarks on Thursday upon arrival in the Lebanese capital at the head of a politico-economic delegation.

"Our region is facing serious challenges, and the threats posed specifically by the Zionist regime have never been as grave as they are today," he told reporters.

"Over the past two years, seven countries in the region, including Lebanon and Iran, have been attacked by the Zionist regime."

He also noted that Israel still occupies part of Lebanon and keeps violating a November 2024 ceasefire with the Hezbollah resistance group.

Araghchi further emphasized that the primary objective of his two-day visit to Lebanon is to engage in close consultations with the Lebanese government officials regarding regional challenges.

The top Iranian diplomat will meet with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, President Joseph Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, and Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, al-Ahed news website reported.

Araghchi will also hold talks with Lebanon`s Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat, as well as Deputy Head of Lebanon`s Higher Islamic Shia Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib.

Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign minister is also expected to visit the tomb of former Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut in September 2024.

Araghchi is set to participate in a dialogue session featuring the signing ceremony of his book, entitled "The Power of Negotiation".
