Omid Badrouj, from Hormoz Island, Iran, filmed the rare natural event as rainfall washed iron oxide from the island`s soil, creating streams of deep red runoff flowing toward the coast.
The footage shows the water cascading over cliff edges like crimson waterfalls.
As the runoff reaches the shoreline, the normally blue ocean shifts to a bright pinkish-red near the coast, contrasting sharply with the deeper blue of the open Persian Gulf.
The phenomenon is natural and caused by the island`s high mineral content.
