Trump and Netanyahu Meet With Focus on Gaza and Iran
The President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Israel regime met in the United States to discuss Middle East issues, including the Gaza Strip and Iran. Donald Trump, President of the United States, and Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the Israeli regime, held talks at Trump`s private residence in Mar-a-Lago. The U.S. president outlined the focus of his meeting with the Israeli prime minister, saying that he would discuss the situation in Gaza and a number of other issues with Netanyahu, adding that they would review five major files. Addressing the issue of Gaza, Trump claimed that despite Hamas officials rejecting any disarmament of the group, Hamas must be disarmed in order to quickly finalize an agreement. Trump emphasized that he hopes to move very soon to the second phase of the Gaza plan. He added that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip would begin shortly. Reacting to reports about Ukraine`s alleged attempt to attack the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said he was "very angry" about the matter. Trump stated that Putin had told him he was "attacked" and stressed that such an action was "not good at all." The U.S. president also said that he had a good and constructive conversation with Putin. In another part of his remarks, Trump addressed Turkey, saying that he would discuss with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the possible deployment of Turkish forces as part of an international stabilization force in Gaza. Trump also repeated claims made by some Israeli media outlets, alleging that Iran is seeking to rebuild its nuclear capabilities, and warned that if Iran were to do so, "we will destroy it." He once again repeated his claims about Iran`s alleged willingness to negotiate, asserting that he had heard Iran was seeking an agreement and that this would be a wiser course than rebuilding nuclear capabilities. Trump further claimed that "Iran could have reached a diplomatic agreement with us before the attacks last summer." The U.S. president reiterated these claims despite the fact that Iran was engaged in negotiations with the United States at the time when, according to admissions by U.S. media and officials, Washington was simultaneously coordinating with the Israeli regime to prepare aggression against Iranian territory. Trump himself later acknowledged that he had commanded this aggression against Iran. While the United States had claimed that during the 12-day war the Israeli regime independently carried out attacks on Iran, Trump, when asked whether he would allow Netanyahu to attack Iran again, replied: "If they continue with the ballistic missile issue, yes." This response by Trump can be interpreted as an admission that in the previous war it was the United States that gave the green light for an attack on Iran. Trump`s statements against Iran come as Iran`s General Staff of the Armed Forces announced that it reassures the Iranian nation that the armed forces, with full readiness and strength, will not allow any harm to be inflicted on the country or the security of its people. The statement added that if Iran`s enemies commit another mistake at any place and at any time, they will receive blows far stronger, more crushing, and more damaging than those of the previous phase.
