AnsarPress - Somaya Ramesh, an Afghan poet and writer, won the international poetry category at the 24th edition of the "Landemo di Bonanno" literary awards in Italy. The ceremony was held in the city of L`Aquila, with the attendance of writers, researchers, and cultural figures from various countries.
The jury praised the literary quality of works produced by Afghan women, describing them as an outstanding example of "exile literature." The judges emphasized that the voices of Afghan women poets-despite restrictions, censorship, and threats-have succeeded in breaking the barriers of silence and reaching the global stage.
Somaya Ramesh dedicated the award to all Afghan women fighting against discrimination and repression, saying:
"This honor is not mine alone; it belongs to the women who, in a country where writing can be considered a crime, continue to fight for freedom and identity."
