On the occasion of World Children`s Day, the World Food Programme (WFP) announced that 3.5 million children in Afghanistan are currently malnourished.
According to AnsarPress, the agency wrote on its X (Twitter) page on Thursday, 29 Aqrab, that it continues to support children across Afghanistan.
WFP stated that it distributes school meals to help improve children`s education and development.
The organization added that it also provides nutritional services in health centers to combat child malnutrition.
WFP had recently warned that due to widespread malnutrition, women in Afghanistan are losing their children, and with the arrival of winter, the level of undernutrition in the country is likely to rise sharply.
This comes at a time when, due to shrinking aid, the operations of several health and child-nutrition centers in Afghanistan have been shut down or suspended, further worsening the humanitarian crisis.
