The Israeli military announced late Sunday that it had "renewed enforcement of the ceasefire" in the Gaza Strip after a deadly wave of strikes earlier in the day killed at least 45 Palestinians.

The military claimed the attacks were in response to a truce violation by Hamas, specifically the alleged targeting of its troops and the killing of two Israeli soldiers in Rafah.

Hamas`s armed wing denied any involvement in the incident, saying it had "no knowledge" of clashes there and reaffirming its commitment to the ceasefire agreement.

Izzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas`s political bureau, said Israel "continues to breach the agreement and fabricate flimsy pretexts to justify its crimes."

Western media reported that the halt in Israeli strikes followed pressure from the Donald Trump administration, which urged Israel to exercise restraint to prevent the collapse of the agreement.

Israeli outlets said US officials Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected in Israel on Monday, with Vice President J.D. Vance arriving Tuesday.

The three were scheduled to meet the regime`s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior officials to advance the ceasefire process.

Separately, A Hamas delegation led by group leader Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Egypt on Sunday to follow up on the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Gaza aid deliveries to resume

US media reported that humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza will also resume Monday, a decision Israeli media noted was made at Washington`s request and has caused frustration in Israel.

Aid entry had been suspended earlier in the day over alleged ceasefire violations.

The truce, brokered by Trump and effective since October 10, ended more than two years of war that killed nearly 68,160 civilians and injured over 170,200 others.

According to the Gaza Government Media Office, Israel has committed 80 violations since the ceasefire began, resulting in 97 deaths and 230 injuries, including 21 violations recorded on Sunday alone.
