Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan, has called on Pakistan to reassess its policy toward Afghanistan following the recent Pakistani drone strikes on Paktika Province, which resulted in civilian casualties.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Karzai strongly condemned the airstrikes and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

He stated:

“Pakistan must, for its own good and stability, stop its aggression against the people and territory of Afghanistan, reconsider its policies, and pursue friendly and civilized relations with Afghanistan based on international principles.”

On Wednesday night, Pakistani drones targeted the Bermal and Argun districts of Paktika Province, according to Afghan officials.

Taliban authorities reported that the strikes killed civilians, including members of a local cricket team.

The attacks occurred just hours after both sides agreed to extend a 48-hour ceasefire until the completion of ongoing negotiations in Doha, Qatar.

In response to the escalation, the Taliban leadership issued orders to their fighters to refrain from launching new operations against Pakistan while the Doha talks continue, emphasizing the need to maintain restraint during the diplomatic process.

Karzai’s statement highlights growing domestic criticism within Afghanistan over Pakistan’s military actions and underscores renewed calls for regional diplomacy to prevent further civilian bloodshed amid fragile peace negotiations.
