Six Ministry of Defense (MoD) personnel were killed in a suicide attack in Kabul early Thursday, the MoD said in a statement.
Fourteen others were injured in the attack.
The attack took place about 7a.m. in Tangi-Tarkhil area of Kabul after a suicide bomber detonated his explosive near a MoD's van, the statement said.
"Five MoD personal were killed while the attack happened and another died later in the hospital," the statement said. "Eleven other personnel were injured in the attack."
The victims have been taken to a nearby hospital in the city.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
In recent weeks, the insurgents have targeted military, diplomatic and foreign installations in and outside of Kabul as the Afghan security forces prepare to take over full security responsibility of the country by the end of this year from foreign troops.
