Following Saturday evening’s attack in Kabul’s Dasht-e-Barchi area, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) called for enhanced protection of the country’s Hazara community. The blast, targeting a minibus, resulted in at least 25 casualties, according to UNAMA.

UNAMA urges increased protection for Afghanistan’s Hazara community after Kabul attack

At least 25 members of Kabul’s Hazara community were killed or wounded in last night’s explosion, UNAMA stated Sunday.

The mission emphasized the need for an end to targeted attacks on civilians, greater protection for Afghanistan’s Hazara community, and accountability for those responsible.

The attack, which has been widely condemned by Afghans including former politicians, was labeled inhuman and a terrorist act.

Daesh has claimed responsibility for the explosion.

The Taliban reported that the blast killed at least two people and wounded 14 others.
