At least three individuals were arrested by police in northeastern Takhar province for allegedly raping a 3-year-old child.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the three men were accused of raping a 3-year-old girl in Rostaq district.
A statement released by MoI said the kid was initially abducted by the three men on Monday morning and was later gang-raped.
The statement further added that the alleged rapists are residents of the same area and abducted the girl while she was playing in a garden.
The sexual abuse and rape of children have been rampant in Afghanistan, with government survey showing 65 rape case recorded in six provinces where child rape happens more frequently.
The survey covered incidents recorded between March and September this year where incidents on children as young as 1-year-old to 13-year-old were reported raped.
The latest incident was reported in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan where a 6-year-old boy was sexually abused around three week ago.
