81 American winners of Nobel prize back Biden for 2020 race

US Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden speaks on the coronavirus pandemic during a campaign event September 2, 2020 in Wilmington, Delaware.

Eighty-one American winners of Nobel prizes in the fields of chemistry, medicine and physics have endorsed Joe Biden for president in the US 2020 presidential race.

The Nobel Laureates signed an open letter appreciating the former vice presidents "willingness to listen to experts."

"At no time in our nations history has there been a greater need for our leaders to appreciate the value of science in formulating public policy," read the letter. "During his long record of public service, Joe Biden has consistently demonstrated his willingness to listen to experts, his understanding of the value of international collaboration in research, and his respect for the contribution that immigrants make to the intellectual life of our country."

From the start, President Trump has denied the facts about how to best fight the coronavirus. Now, he wants Americans to put loyalty to him ahead of the health of their children, parents, and siblings. #DeadlineWH pic.twitter.com/Ifc0blPrNf

The letter made no explicit reference to the covid-19 pandemic and the climate change.

"As American citizens and as scientists, we wholeheartedly endorse Joe Biden for president," it continued.

Biden is running to prevent President Donald Trump from getting reelected in November amid a deep divide in the nation over racial injustice and police brutality in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

During a visit to Kenosha, Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, are set to meet with Blakes father and other members of his family "to bring together Americans to heal and address the challenges we face," according to a campaign official.

"What we want to do is - weve got to heal. Weve got to put things together. Bring people together," Biden said.

Meanwhile, a new Fox News poll showed that voters not just in Wisconsin but also in Arizona, and North Carolina, which Trump won in 2016, now favor Biden.
