Partial Afghan vote result announcement delayed for another day
Partial Afghan vote result announcement delayed for another day

The partial election result which was due to be announced today have been delayed for another one day and will announced on Sunday, the election officials said Saturday.

Noor Mohammad Noor, spokesman for the Independent Election Commission (IEC) said Friday that the partial election result was expected on Saturday.

However, reports suggest that the election officials have not reached to an agreement following a lengthy meeting on Saturday which lasted for almost 7 hours.

The election officials have not announced the main reason behind the delay for announcing the partial election results.

Noor said Friday that around 85 percent of the ballot results in 5156 protective sacks have been received and partial results will be announced upon the entry of over 50 percent of election material into the system.

He said almost 20 to 25 percent of the election materials have been entered into the system so far.

Noor also added that the ballot papers in a number of polling stations have not been processed in accordance with the IEC regulations which have been quarantined.
