US permanently at war on humanity at home and abroad: Writer

The United States is "permanently at war on humanity at home and abroad for unchallenged global dominance it won’t achieve," according to American writer and political commentator Stephen Lendman.

Lendman made the remarks in an email interview with Press TV on Friday while commenting on a statement by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani who condemned the US for using sanctions and economic threats to impose its own will on independent nations.

Speaking at Kuala Lumpur Summit 2019 in the Malaysian capital on Thursday, Rouhani said the Muslim nations should join hands to confront America’s "economic terrorism" by enhancing their banking ties and replacing the dollar in their transactions.

The Iranian president outlined the numerous challenges facing the Muslim world in the spheres of economy, security culture and identity, warning that such issues are hampering the progress of Islamic nations both at home and on the international stage.

Rouhani denounced sanctions and "economic terrorism" as the main tools in the hands of the US to push ahead with its dominance-seeking agenda and "impose its own illegitimate demands on other countries." The Muslim world, he added, should work to "devise measures meant to get rid of the dollar’s dominance and America’s financial system."

Commenting on this, Lendman said, "I certainly support Rouhani. The problem is that most of the Muslim world in the Middle East supports the US and NATO, clearly the Persian Gulf states. Of course I mean the leadership of these countries, not the Arab street."

"So Rouhani’s call resonates with receptive majority-Muslim countries, but not the others. The dollar is key, the source of US strength. Slowly nations are breaking away from it and using their own currencies in international bilateral trade," he stated.

"Hopefully the trend will continue. In the long run, US policies are self-defeating. The US is a nation in decline. Over time, it’ll go the way of all previous empires in world history," he said.

"Russia, China, and other nations are rising, America declining politically, economically and militarily," he noted.

"Discretionary spending on US militarism, war-making, corporate welfare, and police state harshness come at the expense of eroding public services," he said.

"The disparity between rich and most others in America is widening, poverty the leading growth industry in the world’s richest country," he said.

"It’s permanently at war on humanity at home and abroad for unchallenged global dominance it won’t achieve," he said.

"The myth of American exceptionalism, the indispensable state, an illusory moral superiority, and military supremacy persist despite hard evidence debunking these notions," he said.

"The US was at the height of its power post-WW II, maintained for some years in the post-war era, decline beginning and continuing in recent decades, notably post-9/11," the analyst said.

"It’s the same dynamic dooming all other empires in history - a nation in decline because of its imperial arrogance, hubris, waging endless wars against invented enemies, and its unwillingness to change," he said.

"During WW I in 1917, famed UK economist John Maynard Keynes said ‘I work for a Government I despise for ends I think criminal I wonder what he’d say today for the way Britain allies with US high crimes of war and against humanity, smashing one nation after another, responsible for countless millions of casualties," he concluded.
