Rehearsal for Victory Day parade held in Moscow

The last dress rehearsal for Russia’s Victory Day Parade took place at Moscow’s Red Square on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s main event.

Thursday marks the 74th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, with a grand military parade to be held.

About 13,000 soldiers participated in the rehearsal, with 132 pieces of advanced weaponry and 74 aircraft displayed.

The foot parade formations composed of 35 units marched across the square first. They were followed by mechanized formations where Soviet T-34 tanks, the latest generation T-14 Armata tanks, the Iskander-M missile system, the Yars strategic missile system, the Tor missile system, the Buk-M2 air defense missile system, the S-400 air defense system and other advanced equipment.

The rehearsal concluded with a series of aircraft formations above the square, including Mil Mi-26 heavy transport helicopters, Mil Mi-8 helicopters, Beriev A-50U airborne early warning and control aircraft, Ilyushin Il-78 air-to-air refueling tanker aircraft, and Tupolev Tu-95 turboprop-powered strategic bombers. The Russian Knights and the Swifts aerobatic teams showed amazing flying skills.
