At least thirty six people were killed or wounded in a traffic incident in Kabul, the government officials said Friday.

The incident took place late on Thursday night on a highway connecting Kabul with the northeastern Kapisa province of Afghanistan.

According to the officials, a convoy of vehicle carrying the guests of a wedding ceremony collided on the highway in Qarabagh district of Kabul as they were on their way to Kapisa province.

The district administrative chief Mohammad Azim Dil Aqa confirmed the incident and said at least twenty people lost their lives and at least sixteen others sustained injuries.

According to Dil Aqa, the wounded individuals have been shifted to the hospitals and are undergoing treatment.

He also confirmed that the incident has taken place due to the collision of several vehicles which were travelling in a convoy from Kabul to Kapisa province.

The officials in the Traffic Directorate are saying that majority of the road accidents are taking place due to the reckless and speedy driving.
