US can`t keep hiding truth about its captured forces: Iran`s security chief
Iran`s top security official says reports indicate that several American soldiers have been captured during the latest round of the United States` and the Israeli regime`s unprovoked aggression towards the Islamic Republic that has prompted decisive Iranian retaliation. Ali Larijani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, made the remarks in a post on X on Sunday, saying, "It has been reported to me that several American soldiers have been taken prisoner." "But the Americans claim that they have been killed in action. Despite their futile efforts, the truth is not something they can hide for too long," he added. Since late last month, Washington and Tel Aviv have begun taking Iran under fresh deadly atrocities, triggering the Islamic Republic`s Armed Forces, most notably the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), to fight back by launching hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones against numerous sensitive and strategic hostile targets. A day earlier, Larijani had warned that Washington`s actions would face retaliation.
"The United States must understand that crossing [Iran`s] red lines and violating international law will not go unanswered," he said during televised remarks. Emphasizing Iran`s resolve, Larijani added that relying on national determination, the country "will not leave America`s aggression and insolence unanswered, and will not let them off the hook." He also criticized the conduct of Donald Trump, saying the US president`s rhetoric reflected a deeper strategic impasse, stressing that Washington had failed to achieve its broader objectives against the Islamic Republic. "Trump`s strategic failure regarding Iran is certain. Their primary objective was the collapse of the governing system and the destruction of national unity, an objective that has failed."
