The Islamic Emirate denied the claim made by Pakistan’s interior minister that Pakistan was using modern military equipment against the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) that was left over from NATO’s presence in Afghanistan

Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad made the remarks on Pakistani news channel Geo News.

They (the Pakistan military) use military equipment remaining from NATO forces. In my opinion, the Afghan Taliban made a large effort to dissuade the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), but they don’t understand. They are settled in Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Paktia and Khost provinces, which are along the (Durand Line), and they launch attacks against Pakistan. The attacks have increased.

The Islamic Emirate also denies the presence of any group, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, on Afghan soil, saying that the Afghan territory will not be used against any country.

We assure and pledge that there is no threat from Afghan soil to any country. The problem exists in Pakistan, it is their own internal problem, said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.

This comes as Pakistan itself is accused of providing safe haven to terrorist groups. The country has been repeatedly placed on the gray list of the UN for providing financial support to terrorist groups.

Rasheed Ahmad’s remarks come after talks between the TTP and Pakistan government failed to reach any solution and which in turn led to a new series of attacks in several parts of Pakistan.

The weapons are being smuggled from Afghanistan. I have heard that some people who engage in the weapons business in Bajaur (in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), they also accept it, said Tahir Khan, a Pakistani journalist.

The International Crisis Group said that Pakistan is seeking to take further benefits from the 20-year war in Afghanistan.
