The Emergency Hospital in Kabul has confirmed that following a series of explosions this afternoon, 40 people - including five dead - have been brought to the facility, with several women and children among the victims.

According to AnsarPress News Agency, the hospital stated that the blasts occurred around 4:00 p.m. local time, just a few kilometers from its main building.

In an official statement, the hospital said that the casualties include women and children, and that ten of the wounded are in critical condition.

Dejan Panic, the country director of Emergency Hospital, said:

"We started receiving ambulances full of injured people and soon realized that a series of explosions had occurred only a few kilometers away from us."

He added:

"So far, 40 people - including women and children - have been brought in. They are suffering from shrapnel wounds, blunt trauma injuries, and burns."

The hospital noted that the current casualty figures are preliminary and may rise as more victims are transported from the scene.

Around 4:00 p.m., residents across Kabul reported powerful explosions, prompting confusion and panic. Shortly afterward, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, claimed that the sounds were caused by the explosion of a fuel tanker.

However, within hours, Pakistan`s state television contradicted that account, reporting that the Pakistani military had carried out an airstrike on a "Khawarij hideout" in Kabul - a term Islamabad uses to refer to members of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A few hours after the blasts, officials from both sides announced a ceasefire agreement, signaling a temporary pause in hostilities following one of the most serious cross-border escalations between the Taliban and Pakistan in recent months.

The attack, which struck a residential area, underscores the volatile security situation in Kabul, where civilian neighborhoods continue to bear the brunt of regional power struggles and military operations disguised under counterterrorism claims.
