US President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Oman amid ongoing talks between Muscat and Tehran over the Strait of Hormuz.

On Monday, Trump made the threat when questioned by Fox News about the parallel negotiations between Iran and Oman.

Trey Yingst, a Fox News reporter, stated: "I asked the president about... parallel talks that are taking place between Iran and Oman about control of the Strait of Hormuz."

Trump replied: "If Oman gets in the way, we`ll bomb the s* out of them."

Trump further demanded that Iran "put up the white flag of surrender," while claiming he was in no hurry to conclude any deal.

Iran and Oman, which respectively border the Strait of Hormuz to the north and south, have conducted intensive negotiations for nearly three months to establish a secure shipping route.

Iran`s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that the two sides have reached an understanding on a proposed transit arrangement and are finalizing details for a joint declaration. These talks respect the sovereign rights of the coastal states and aim to ensure safe navigation in line with international law.

This is not the first time Trump has threatened America`s Persian Gulf Arab ally. In May, he warned that Oman must "behave" or the US would "blow up" the country.

Iran restricted transit through the Strait of Hormuz following the start of the US-Israeli aggression in late February. On June 17, the presidents of Iran and the United States signed a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding remotely, intended to end the war.

Article 5 of the understanding assigns Iran responsibility for reopening and managing the strait, including dialogue with Oman on future administration and maritime services while upholding the sovereign rights of the coastal states.

However, subsequent US measures, including the establishment of an unsafe corridor near Omani shores and renewed aerial attacks, violated those commitments and forced Iran to reimpose restrictions.

Tehran has consistently maintained that any easing of restrictions on the waterway depends on a genuine change in US conduct and the complete removal of threats to regional security.
