Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have conducted funeral prayers for 112 people who were retrieved from the debris of homes Israel demolished during the genocidal war on the besieged coastal region.

On Tuesday, thousands of Palestinians participated in the funeral in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, where the bodies were adorned with Palestinian flags and placed near the ruins of the destroyed residential buildings.

Following the funeral procession, the victims are scheduled to be interred at the Baptist Cemetery located in the Zeitoun neighborhood, which lies south of Gaza City.

The victims were members of the Hasayneh and Abu Sharia families, who perished when Israeli airstrikes targeted their residences while they were present inside on November 23, 2023.

The funeral is regarded as one of the most significant in Palestinian history, given the substantial number of victims.

Civil defense teams recovered the bodies from under the rubble of destroyed homes on Saturday.

According to a statement from the Civil Defense, the victims comprised 40 children, 38 women, and seven individuals with disabilities.

Civil Defense official Mohammad Abu Dan stated that the teams have not been able to locate 157 bodies that remain missing beneath the rubble.

Official data indicate that the bodies of approximately 9,500 Palestinians remain trapped under the rubble in various parts of the Gaza Strip, as many targeted sites remain inaccessible and rescue efforts continue to be hindered by shortages of equipment and heavy machinery.

Civil defense personnel have been operating in hazardous health conditions since the start of the Israeli war, with decomposing bodies in exposed areas and limited access to protective gear and biological testing tools.

A ceasefire that took effect in October 2025 ended Israel`s two-year genocidal war that began on October 7, 2023.

Palestinian authorities say the bloody onslaught killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured over 174,000 others, most of them women and children, and caused widespread destruction affecting 90% of civilian infrastructure. The UN estimates reconstruction costs at approximately $70 billion.

At least 1,250 Palestinians have been killed and 4,110 others injured in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire, according to Gaza`s Health Ministry.
