At least 1230 people, mostly civilians, have so far been martyred in the ongoing American-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Revolution.

The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, a body affiliated with the government, in a statement on Thursda announced that at least 1230 people have been martyred since Saturday when the US, along with the Israeli regime, launched aggression against Iran.

The coordinated attacks targeted mostly civilian areas in Tehran and other cities.

In the first wave of attacks, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and some top-ranking military commanders were martyred on Saturday.

In recent days, Iranian mourners have held funerals for the hundreds of victims in the capital Tehran and other cities across various parts of the country.

In the past five days, the US and Israel have attacked civilian targets, including schools, hospitals, sports facilities, heritage sites and residential localities.

Iran has responded by launching waves of missile and drone barrages at targets deep inside the occupied territories as well as at American bases across the region.

Senior Iranian officials have asserted that any deliberate assault by the United States and Israeli regime on Iran`s civilian and cultural heritage sites constitutes a "flagrant breach of international humanitarian law and an undisputed war crime."

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that Iran had been left with no choice but to defend itself in the face of military attacks by the United States and Israel.

Pezeshkian made the remarks on Wednesday evening on his X account in a message addressed to regional leaders, emphasizing Iran`s respect for the sovereignty of their countries.
