Iran`s ambassador in Geneva condemned US-Israeli attacks on Iranian schools, calling for an immediate international action to stop the brutal strikes.

In a letter to UN special rapporteur on the right to education, Ali Bahraini condemned the "large-scale, illegal" US-Israeli attacks that targeted civilian infrastructure, including schools in the Islamic Republic.

He stressed that the Saturday attack on a girls` elementary school in Minab, which killed more than 170 children and staff, was a "grave" violation of international humanitarian law and human rights.

The letter called for an unequivocal public condemnation of the attacks on educational institutions, an immediate halt to all assaults on schools and holding those responsible accountable.

Emphasizing that the protection of children and the safeguarding of education during conflicts are binding legal obligations, Bahraini urged immediate international action to defend the right to education, ensure the protection of learning environments, and an end to attacks on schools in accordance with international human rights standards.

The letter comes a day after a funeral procession was held for the victims of the deadly US-Israeli strike that targeted the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab in the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan on Saturday.

Another US-Israeli attacks targeted and seriously damaged Esmat girls` high school in Urmia, West Azerbaijan earlier today.
