Barcelona lost to Real Sociedad 2-1 in the match held at the Anoeta Stadium, as part of the 20th round of the Spanish league.

Real Sociedad opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through Mikel Oyarzabal, and the first half ended with the home team leading 1-0.

In the second half, Barcelona managed to equalize in the 70th minute through Marcus Rashford, before Real Sociedad quickly responded by scoring the second goal in the 71st minute through Gonzalo Guedes.

The final minutes of the match saw a sending-off, as Carlos Soler of Real Sociedad received a straight red card in the 88th minute, leaving his team to finish the game with ten players.

With this win, Real Sociedad increased their total to 24 points, moving up to eighth place in the La Liga standings, while Barcelona`s total remained at 49 points at the top of the table.

Flick: The Result Does Not Reflect the Performance, and I Do Not Want to Waste My Energy Commenting on the Refereeing

Hans Flick, the head coach of FC Barcelona, expressed his frustration following his team`s loss to Real Sociedad, while also affirming his satisfaction with the overall performance of the players despite some defensive lapses.

Flick said: "I am disappointed with the result, but I am happy with what the team delivered, except for some moments when we needed to defend better. The team created many chances that were not converted into goals."

He continued: "We created many opportunities, but the result does not reflect what we saw on the field. There are days when you put in a lot of effort, and in the end, luck is not on your side."

He added, "I told the players after the match that we were not fortunate, and now we need to focus on the upcoming game. Improving some defensive details remains part of the ongoing development process."

The Barcelona coach continued talking about Frenkie de Jong`s comments on the refereeing, saying: "I agree with de Jong, but I don`t want to waste my energy on this matter. We need to close the chapter on the match and focus on what lies ahead."

De Jong: We Deserved to Win, and What Happened with the Refereeing Was Frustrating

Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona midfielder, confirmed that his team deserved to win against Real Sociedad, pointing out that the problem was in wasting the chances to score.

De Jong said: "I think we deserved to win today, we created many chances but we had to convert them into goals. We played a good match, but we did not get the victory because we did not take advantage of the available opportunities."

He continued: "We lacked the final touch in front of the goal, and also the Real Sociedad goalkeeper played a great match and saved important chances, which clearly affected the result."

The Barcelona captain added, commenting on one of the refereeing incidents: "In the end, if there was an offside, then it is offside and there is no argument about that. I personally did not see the clip, and we were told it was not offside. I discussed it with the fourth official; last season a similar situation happened here."

De Jong continued his criticism of the refereeing, saying: "The problem is that the referee cannot be talked to at all. I am the captain and I do not understand this approach. He looks at me as if to say: I am above you. This is frustrating and he should not behave this way."

He concluded his statements by talking about the added time, saying: "The most frustrating thing was wasting the chances. At the end of the match, I was asking him to keep track of the time, and they took a whole minute to take a goal kick, which is normal, but he did not add even ten seconds extra. I told him that, and he showed me a card."
