Minneapolis police on Saturday said at least 30 people were detained during protests the night before after an immigration officer fatally shot an unarmed woman in her vehicle earlier this week.

Large crowds gathered outside of a Canopy Hotel where some individuals forced their way into hotel through an alley entrance, according to a statement by Minneapolis police.

Demonstrators reportedly threw snow, ice, and rocks at officers, police vehicles and other vehicles in the roadway ignoring local officials` previous calls to hold peaceful protests following the killing of Renee Nicole Macklin Good.

Macklin Good was stopped by a group of immigration agents on Wednesday and attempted to drive away in the midst of being told to stop.

Public outrage has followed after videos showed ICE officer Jonathan Ross shooting the woman inside her vehicle.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Ross was acting in self defense while Vice President JD Vance said he`d be granted "absolute immunity."

An investigation into the matter is being handled by the FBI.

Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D) and Tina Smith (D) are demanding local investigators be reinstated on the FBI`s Minneapolis shooting investigation after local officials said they were being frozen out by federal investigators.

A series of nationwide protests against immigration enforcement are slated for Saturday in the midst of the Trump administration`s ongoing crackdown on undocumented immigrants.
