Iran`s Constitutional Council has strongly condemned the destruction of public properties and desecration of mosques by saboteurs across the country, calling on security forces and relevant bodies to take all necessary measures to restore law and order in the face of the violence.

The council, in a statement released on Sunday, held Israel and the United States responsible for turning the recent peaceful protests in Iran into riots, emphasizing that enemies have long sought to undermine the Islamic Republic`s unity and cohesion.

"They have been constantly stoking tensions and creating turmoil under false illusions that they would manage to unseat the Islamic establishment. This is while the Islamic Republic [in Iran] is the upshot of sacrifices made by noble individuals, who gave up their lives and embraced martyrdom in order to safeguard the system," the statement read.

It underscored that the Islamic system will never step back against rioters, saboteurs, and anyone who acts as a mercenary for foreigners, and will not put up with their actions by any means.

The Constitutional Council vehemently denounced the destruction of public properties as well as the desecration of mosques and the Holy Qur`an, expressing its deepest condolences over the loss of several voluntary Basij forces, ordinary citizens, and police officers during the recent unrest in Iran.

It urged law enforcement forces as well as all security and judicial authorities to decisively and fiercely act against those who jeopardize public order and property.

The Council finally called upon all strata of the Iranian society to maintain national unity and exercise continued vigilance in order to thwart the enemies` plots and prevent them from achieving their wicked ambitions.
