France says it is coordinating with Germany and Poland on a joint response after the White House revealed that President Donald Trump is weighing "a range of options" to capture Greenland, including the possible use of military force against the Danish territory.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Wednesday that the issue will be raised at a trilateral meeting with his German and Polish counterparts.

"We want to take action, but we want to do so together with our European partners."

The White House said on Tuesday that Trump has been discussing "a range of options" to seize Greenland, including the use of the military. It claimed that annexing the semi-autonomous territory of NATO member Denmark was a "national security priority."

Denmark warned that any attempt by the United States to seize Greenland by force would effectively spell the end of the transatlantic military alliance and "post‑second‑world‑war security."

European leaders have rallied around Denmark and Greenland, warning that the Arctic territory "belongs to its people, and only Denmark and Greenland can decide on matters concerning their relations."

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reiterated that a US attack on Greenland would fundamentally undermine NATO.

"If the United States chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything stops," Frederiksen said on Monday.

Trump has claimed without evidence that Greenland is "full of Chinese and Russian ships" and that Denmark is incapable of defending the territory - claims Danish officials have dismissed as inaccurate and misleading.

The US president originally floated the idea of acquiring Greenland during his first presidential term, describing it as akin to a "large real estate deal."

The territory`s position between Europe and North America makes it a key site for installing the US ballistic missile defense system.

Greenland also possesses vast untapped natural resources, including oil, gas, and rare earth minerals essential for modern technology and military industries, which, according to analysts, have fueled US interest in exerting control over the territory.
