Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday that negotiators from his country and the U.S. made significant progress on his 20-point peace proposal during a meeting at President Trump`s Mar-a-Lago club.

"We discussed all the aspects of the peace framework ... [the] 20-point peace plan [is] 90 percent agreed," Zelensky said, standing beside Trump.

The Ukrainian leader added that the U.S. side agreed "100 percent" with the sections in the framework outlining American security guarantees, with the U.S., Ukraine, and European countries "almost" in agreement on joint security guarantees for the eastern European nation.

Trump and Zelensky held a call with European leaders after their meeting. The president is also set to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin via phone later Sunday, after speaking with the Russian leader before his meeting with Zelensky.

Zelensky drafted the 20-part framework in response to the Trump administration proposing a 28-point plan to end Russia`s war in Ukraine.

Under the proposal, Ukraine would receive security guarantees from the U.S. and Europe and would be able to join the European Union at a specific date in the future.

Zelensky said Sunday that such guarantees are "the key milestone in achieving lasting peace" and noted that the U.S. and Ukrainian sides will continue to negotiate terms.

The eastern European nation would also maintain its armed forces at their current levels of 800,000, while the fighting in Donetsk will be halted at the current battle lines - with Ukrainian and Russian forces withdrawing to create a demilitarized zone overseen by international forces.

Zelensky also is proposing that Ukraine receive $800 billion in aid to rebuild its infrastructure and economy after the war. The Ukrainian leader said Sunday that the prosperity plan is "being finalized."

"We appreciate the progress that was made by American and Ukrainian teams these recent weeks," the Ukrainian president said.

Opening their joint remarks, Trump praised his negotiating team and said the meeting was "terrific."

"We`ve had discussions on just about every subject," the president said. Trump also said prior to the meeting that he believes Zelensky and Putin are ready to achieve peace.

Earlier Sunday, though, Zelensky noted on the social platform X that amid negotiations to end the war, Russia launched over 2,100 attack drones, roughly 800 aerial guide bombs and over 90 missiles at Ukraine this week.
