Manchester City squandered a two-goal lead before grabbing a stoppage-time winner through Phil Foden to seal a 3-2 victory over Leeds in the Premier League on Saturday.

With Erling Haaland failing to score for a third straight game, City relied largely on Foden to overcome a team languishing in the relegation zone.

The England playmaker opened the scoring after 59 seconds - for the fastest goal in the league this season - before Josko Gvardiol added a second for City in the 25th.

Leeds replied in the second half through Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, a striker who came through City`s academy, before Foden curled home the winner in the first minute of added-on time.

City climbed to second place and trimmed the gap to first-place Arsenal, which visits Chelsea on Sunday, to four points.

Having lost 2-1 at Newcastle in the league last weekend and 2-0 to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday, City was staring at a three-match winless run in all competitions before Foden`s late intervention.

Haaland, the Premier League`s top scorer, hasn`t scored in any of those games.

Sunderland produced an even better fightback than Leeds, also coming from two goals down to win 3-2 at home to Bournemouth. Brian Brobbey grabbed the winner in the 69th while Bournemouth`s second goal was a shot from nearly 50 yards (meters) from U.S. midfielder Tyler Adams.

Brentford beat Burnley 3-1 in the other early game, with Igor Thiago scoring twice for the hosts.

Later, Newcastle visits Everton before Tottenham hosts Fulham.

Foden: It Was a Crazy Match, and the League Race Is Not Easy

Manchester City star Phil Foden appeared in a press statement after the 3-2 victory over Leeds United in the 13th round of the Premier League.

The player said in his interview: "It was one of the craziest matches. We had complete control in the first half, but they changed their tactics in the second half, and we couldn`t get into the rhythm of the game."

He added: "It was a frustrating half, but when there was a brief stoppage, we gathered the coach and managed to adapt to their system. We got some half-dangerous chances, and in the end, I found a small space and shot the ball into the bottom corner."

He continued: "There are still some things we can improve, but we are very happy with the result."

About the title race, he said: "The league race is not easy; there are always ups and downs, and periods when you feel unable to get going, and we have been through that."

He affirmed: "Faith and team spirit ultimately prevailed. I hope this match will be a starting point for us, but in football, you can never predict anything."

He concluded his speech by saying, "I was very eager today to play and prove that I am still capable of scoring goals. I missed some opportunities against Newcastle and wanted to make up for that."

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola appeared in press statements following the 3-2 victory over Leeds United in the thirteenth round of the English Premier League.

The coach began his speech: "We secured three important points. When you look at the match overall, the first half should have been decided, but in the Premier League, even when you score the third goal, things never end."

He added: "After Daniel Farke changed the playing style, with long passes to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha running behind the defense line, the match was always difficult. These emotions are part of football. We had opportunities, and in the end, we found our goal."

Regarding his talk with Haaland after the match: "I told him he will score his 100th goal in the next match. We only talked about rest. His body is very big. Minutes are important... at that moment, the player is active. Rest is not only for the legs (also mentally and psychologically). He is not like Phil or Jeremy; they can rest. Erling is a big man, and we need him a lot."

He continued, praising Phil Foden: "This is not the first time we see this. A thousand, a thousand, a million times he has done it. Quality in shooting and power.
