US President Donald Trump has called for the arrest of six "seditious" Democratic lawmakers who urged American servicemen to disobey illegal government orders.

On Thursday, Trump threatened the death penalty for the six members of the US Senate and House of Representatives.

They had published a video on November 18, addressing the military and special services, in which they stated that orders violating the United States Constitution and the law should not be followed, pledging to defend those who refuse to execute unlawful orders.

In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump labeled the six lawmakers as "traitors" and called for their arrest, insisting that their "seditious actions are punishable by death."

His comments were supported by Homeland Security Adviser Stephen Miller, who described the video as a public call for rebellion, stating, "Democrat lawmakers are now openly calling for insurrection."

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche concurred, arguing that the lawmakers who released the video should face prosecution.

Ironically, every public servant in the United States is required to take an oath to uphold and defend the letter of the law.

This means that every public servant must refuse to carry out any criminal order(s) that violate the letter of the law.

Service members have an obligation to reject orders they understand to be illegal.

The six American lawmakers in the video had reminded members of the US armed forces and intelligence community that it is their lawful duty to "refuse illegal orders."

Senators Mark Kelly of Arizona and Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, in addition to Representatives Jason Crow of Colorado, Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire and Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, told members of the US military and intelligence services to stand up to illegal demands.

"We know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now," the congressmen said. "Americans trust their military, but that trust is at risk."

"You must refuse illegal orders. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution," the Democrats said in their collective statement. "We know this is hard, and that it`s a difficult time to be a public servant. But whether you`re serving in the CIA, the Army, the Navy, or the Air Force, your vigilance is critical. And know that we have your back."

"The President is trampling on the Constitution," Crow wrote. "Stop politicizing our troops. Stop illegal military strikes. Stop pitting our servicemembers against the American people."

Crow was referring to the unlawful military actions ordered by Trump that were violating US and international laws, including the decision to deploy military troops to clamp down on American civilians, and the recent airstrikes on vessels in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.
