Venezuela`s President Nicolas Maduro has decried the joint US-Trinidad and Tobago military exercises as "irresponsible."

"The government of Trinidad and Tobago has once again announced irresponsible exercises, lending its waters off the coast of Sucre state for military exercises that are intended to be threatening to a republic like Venezuela, which does not allow itself to be threatened by anyone," Maduro said during an event in Caracas on Saturday.

He condemned the increased US military presence in the region and called on his supporters in the eastern states of the country to hold "a vigil and a permanent march in the streets" during the military maneuvers, scheduled for November 16-21.

This is the second joint training exercise carried out by the US and Trinidad and Tobago in less than a month.

Earlier, the Venezuelan leader denounced the US for seeking to ignite "a new eternal war" against the Bolivarian Republic until the replacement of the democratically-elected leftist government with a pro-Washington puppet regime.

The Venezuelan government condemned the presence of the US Navy destroyers in the region, describing the deployment as a "hostile provocation."

Last month, US Senator Rick Scott claimed Maduro`s "days are numbered" as the USS Gravely joined the USS Gerald R. Ford near Venezuelan waters.

Caracas slammed the move as another hostile provocation by the Americans against the Latin American nation and a serious threat to Caribbean peace.

Caracas sees the increased US military presence in the region, which Washington claims is directed against drug gangs, to be actually a ploy to overthrow the country`s leftist leadership.

In the meantime, US media reports have been warning that American military forces may soon begin striking targets inside Venezuela.

Trump, on October 31, denied that he was considering strikes against targets inside the mineral-rich Latin American country.

However, he contradicted his own earlier statements about ordering CIA covert operations for "regime change" and considering the possibility of launching strikes on the territory of this country.
