Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has condemned Pakistan`s recent air and ground attacks on Afghanistan territory, calling them a clear violation of Afghanistan`s sovereignty and international law.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Karzai said the strikes had killed and injured women and children, describing the attacks as "inhumane and unacceptable."

He urged Pakistan to respect Afghanistan`s territorial integrity and refrain from actions that endanger civilian lives. "The people of Afghanistan stand united in defending their land and nation," Karzai wrote.

Pakistan launched airstrikes on parts of Kandahar and Kabul on Wednesday, which local authorities said caused heavy civilian casualties. The UN has warned that ongoing clashes between the two sides are worsening the humanitarian situation.

Taliban officials confirmed the deaths of 12 civilians in Kandahar`s Spin Boldak district, while at least 40 people were taken to Emergency Hospital in Kabul following the strikes.

Analysts say the growing exchange of rhetoric between Kabul and Islamabad reflects rising tensions, with cross-border violence threatening to derail fragile diplomatic efforts and deepen regional instability.
