30-year-old Abdul Rahim an ex-Afghan National Army officer, who lost both of his hands in the explosion of a bomb he was trying to defuse, says as soon as he recovers he will return to the military.

Abdul Rahim was assigned to a bomb disposal squad and his deployment took him to restive Kandahar province, the birth place of Taliban.

Although, knowing the risk at his job, patriot Abdul Rahim continued his mission of defusing bombs to save people during his deployment.

He was happily hugging death again and again in order to rescue others. About three years ago Abdul Rahim put his life at risk to defuse a landmine planted by terrorists in Kandahar.

This time again he was able to save people but unfortunately the bomb made him disabled. It exploded and he lost both of his hands in the blast.

Abdul Rahim did not care of losing hands and becoming disabled but he was saddened he could not continue his mission.

He made several attempts for his treatment but they did not bring positive results.

Ultimately, about four months before he contacted Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre located in Kochi city of the Indian state of Kerala.

Indian doctors transplanted him new hands and he regained considerable amount of function of them. But doctors require him under intensive physiotherapy for another ten months.

Patriot Abdul Rahim now says as soon as he recovers he will return to the military and continue saving lives with his new hands.
