In a suicide attack in Police District nine of Kabul City one policeman was killed and three others were wounded early Thursday morning, Kabul police said.

The incident took place in Tangi Tarakhail area near the Dehsabz district of Kabul City, police said.

According to the Kabul Police Chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi, the suicide attacker was driving a car and wanted to detonate his explosives in a crowded area, but was identified by security forces and detonated his explosives before reaching his target.

The victims have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have arrived to the scene to begin investigations.

Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
