The Taliban attacks have increased by 68 percent in the capital Kabul and other major cities which is believed to be the new plan of the militant group to turn from villages to the cities, according to intelligence sources.

National Directorate of Security (NDS) spokesman Haseeb Sediqi said Wednesday that this year, the Taliban used huge force and financial resources to conduct armed attacks in the cities resulting to nearly 70 percent rise in these attacks.

These statements are expressed as the Kabul inhabitants faced several suicide bombings and armed attacks of the Taliban during the past two weeks, causing a number of death and injuries to the civilians.

This week capital Kabul witnessed three attacks including a suicide attack on female lawmaker Shukria Barekzai on Sunday killing at least 3 people including a university girl and injuring nearly thirty other civilians.

A camp of foreign troops was also targeted by suicide bombers on Tuesday, killing two security guards and injuring three others including a foreign soldier.

Overall, the Taliban attacks have been declined by 45 percent but the group's attack in the cities have increased by 68 percent, Sediqi added.

He, however, ensured the citizens that strong efforts are underway to improve the security situation following a new strategy which is under consideration.

A strategy is under consideration to meet the demands of security forces aimed at improving the country's security situation, Haseeb ensured.

The recent security failure has strongly provoked the anger of Parliamentarians, saying that the Kabul citizens have no hope of returning their homes safe from their work.

Life in Kabul has become very difficult, perhaps we are surviving accidently, said Rangeena Kargar, a female lawmaker from northwestern Faryab.

There is a big vacuum in the security agencies, MP Rahman Rahmani said. We must know the factor that how the vehicles packed with explosives enter the cities.

With the new government elected, hopes of citizens to have better security raised; but now the citizens, especially the Kabul inhabitants, strongly criticize the government's failure to ensure their safety.
