Militant rocket attacks on Bagram Prison in Parwan province mistakenly injured 20 Taliban insurgents detained there, officials said on Saturday. The Taliban has released a statement expressing regret for harming their fellow militants.

Attacks on Bagram Airbase, which houses the prison, have increased in recent weeks. But this is the first of such attacks that the Taliban has expressed remorse for.

In response to the Taliban's statement expressing sympathy for the Taliban prisoners wounded by their onslaught, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) has said the Taliban should apologize to the families of all those civilians they have killed in their attacks.

First of all, the Taliban must state why don't they feel sorry in their other attacks? So far, hundreds of innocent civilians have lost their lives as result of Taliban attacks, but now that a few of their fellow Taliban members have lost their lives, they get concerned, MoD spokesman Zaher Azimi said.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has said a special unit has been assigned the task of investigating the rocket attacks on Bagram. A committee has been assigned and been sent to Parwan province to investigate the attacks and who is behind them, Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi said.
