Five Syrian army personnel were killed and 20 others injured after a military bus they were travelling in came under a missile attack of Daesh terrorists, according to Syrian media.

The incident took place in eastern Syria�s al-Badia region on Sunday evening, the state news agency SANA reported on Monday, citing military sources.

At about 07:00 p.m. on Sunday, a military bus was subjected to a terrorist missile attack in the area, 50 km east of the third station in the Syrian al-Badia region by a group of Daesh terrorist organization, the report said, citing a source.

The attack was followed by bursts of fire of 23 mm caliber cannon as five army personnel were martyred and twenty others were wounded, the source added.

The news agency said such attacks are repeatedly launched by terrorist groups on buses travelling on Dayr al-Zawr- Palmyra road from the area controlled by the US forces in al-Tanf, which provides protection and support for these terrorist organizations.

It comes a day after another attack was reported on a bus in Dayr al-Zawr province, which led to death of 10 oil field workers.

In another incident on November 14, a Syrian army general and four soldiers were killed in an attack in eastern Syria.

Daesh Takfiri terrorists have been active in the oil-rich provinces of Syria notwithstanding heavy deployment of the US-led coalition forces who claim to fight the extremists.

The terrorists have, with the connivance of foreign troops, managed to regain foothold in the region after facing defeat at the hands of the Syrian army in 2019.

Since the toppling of its self-proclaimed ‘caliphate�, the Group has killed at least 1,800 government and allied forces in the Syrian Desert that stretches all the way from the Damascus outskirts to the Iraqi border.

The report in SANA said over the past months, media reports have talked about transferring hundreds of ISIS (Daesh) terrorists by the US occupation forces from Iraq as well as from the prisons they control with the QSD militia in Hasaka.
