At least 15 mortar shells fired from eastern Afghanistan landed in North Waziristan Agency on Saturday, Pakistani security officials claimed on Sunday.

The officials quoted by local media agencies said the mortar shells were fired from eastern Paktika province of Afghanistan.

The mortar shells fell in different parts of Mazdak village, 65 kilometers west of North Waziristan’s headquarters Miranshah, the officials added.

There were no reports of loss of life following the cross-border shelling, Pakistani security officials said.

This comes as local authorities in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan said Friday, at least 18 missiles have been fired by Pakistani forces in this province late Thursday.

Provincial security chief, Gen. Abdul Habib Syed Khel confirmed that 18 missiles long-range missiles fired from the other side of Durand Line, landed in Dangam district, however no casualties were reported.

The Pakistani military has been shelling eastern provinces of Afghanistan including Kunar and Nuristan during the recent years which has left dozens of people dead or injured.
